Jan 26: Republic Day: Students organise various programmes in the spirit of patriotism and national integrity to honour the memory of the country’s freedom fighters, national leaders and the Indian Constitution.

March 24: World Tuberculosis Day: Rally and street play at Talasari town

April 7: World Health Day: Health awareness programmes with charts, posters, role-playing, street plays, etc centring on a theme are organised at various venues such as Dayanand Hospital’s OPD, at Community Health Centres and in Schools.

May 6 to 12: Nurses’ Week:  A week-long programme to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, patron of nurses. Events include quiz contests, poster preparation, skits, dances, Rangoli, sports and games, etc. The last day is marked by celebrations and a prize distribution for winners. This takes place at the International Nurses’ Day celebrations on May 12.

Aug 1: Opening Day: The first day of the course for the new batch of students. The principal, faculty and staff of DSON along with students and their parents/guardians inaugurate the academy followed by meeting. An opportunity to get acquainted with each other and to discuss queries regarding rules & regulations, facilities, examinations, leave, etc.

Aug 15: Independence Day: Students organise various programmes in the spirit of patriotism and national integrity to honour the memory of the country’s freedom fighters and national leaders.

Sept 5: Teacher’s Day: Students honour their teachers by organising various programmes and felicitating them. Teachers also participate in quiz contests and games.

Sep 15: Institution Day: Along with other staff of the campus students participate in celebration.

Nov: Diwali Celebrations: Students celebrate Diwali by prayer service with lights

Nov: Lamp-Lighting & Prize Distribution: A ceremonial initiation to the course, held three months after the course commences. Students, staff and faculty participate in a programme where a lamp resembling the traditional lamp of Florence Nightingale is lit. The freshers receive the lights. On this occasion, freshers recite Nightingale’s pledge to the public to reinforce their commitment to the profession.

Awards: Meritorious Student of each year is given a cash award and a certificate.

Dec: Christmas: Students organize the Christmas programme with various games.
