COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Our student-nurses conduct healthcare programmes year-round among target populations in villages, schools, individual families, hospital in-patient and out-patient departments, and health centres.

Objectives
All community health activities aim at prevention of disease, promotion of health awareness and rehabilitative healthcare, across all age groups. Plans are undertaken on the basis of community surveys to impart knowledge and to modify the life style of the public in order to have a better health.

Programmes
Following are some of the Community Outreach Programmes undertaken by DSON’’s student-nurses since 2010.

Rural Community Outreach Project through Heath Assessment and Health education
• Prevention & management of malnutrition
• Anaemia among children and pregnant women
• Accidents at home
• Family Planning
• Maternal Health
• Education on nutritive value of locally available foods
• Importance of personal and environmental hygiene
• Home management of seasonal illness
• Awareness on social issues- Social media, Female infanticide, Child marriage, illiteracy etc.
• Imparting health education to school children/ Colleges on healthy habits, personal hygiene, sex education, awareness on Dengue fever, Malaria, Water borne diseases , ill effects of junk food etc
• Awareness on Tuberculosis and Leprosy.
